This is one of the main attractions of Bhandardara. This dam is the largest dam of India and offers a view that is absolutely spectacular. But, what’s even better is that there is a beautiful garden at the very base of the dam. The garden is very lush green and hygienic where quality family time and also solitary time can be spent. This attraction also offers two beautiful waterfalls, which are indeed favorite picnic spots of Bhandardara. They are Umbrella Waterfall and Randha Waterfall. The only dampener though is that these two enchanting waterfalls can be enjoyed only during monsoon season.
Before rounding up on this dam, it is very important to mention that this huge dam is one of the engineering marvels of our country. It was successfully constructed after overcoming gigantic engineering hurdles during the British era and hence witnessing it with one’s own eyes is indeed an event in itself.
A pure oasis of nature! This is the perfect description of Arthur Lake. This description is, however, a mere cursory indication of beauty of this lake and its surrounding area. The complete and true beauty of this place can be known only when one experiences and witnesses it.
The major attraction of this immensely beautiful place is boat riding. The charge for boat riding is Rs 200 to 250 per hour. Here, however, one cannot enjoy motor boat riding. As the local people here wanted to protect the lake and surrounding scenic nature from pollution. There are also many hotels and resorts facing the Athur Lake. Although they are bit expensive, but the beautiful view offered by these hotels and resorts is worth every penny.
Mount KalsubaiThis is the most popular trekking spot of Bhandardara. Although trekking is bit demanding, but all the hard work is really worth it. As Mount Kalsubai is not only the highest peak of the Sahyadri Hills, but also offers breathtaking views of lush greenery throughout the trek.
Just few kilometers away from Bhandardara is the immensely famous Ratangad Fort. This is another favorite spot among the trekkers. But, this place is as much worth visiting for non- trekkers too. GhatgharA small village located merely 22 kms away from Bhandardara that is immensely popular for providing panoramic view of Sahyadri Hills. The view is absolutely stunning to say the least and hence worth capturing in camera.
